Avoid These 5 Costly ACP Cladding Mistakes (Save Your Money & Time!)

Proper installation of ACP cladding can entirely change a building’s appearance and strength. However, one incorrect choice could lead to looking at peeling panels, water leakage or needing a complete overhaul that empties your wallet. Whether it is for commercial frontages or residential outsides, these five errors happen more frequently than you imagine and are costlier to repair than prevent.

1. Choosing the Wrong Grade of ACP Panel

All ACP panels are not constructed in the same way. Many purchasers choose the least expensive option without considering core material, fire rating or thickness. This results in selecting panels that may warp, crack or do not meet safety standards. For outdoor uses in particular, it is necessary to have panels that can withstand heat, rain and UV light over time. CityBond provides distinctly classified options allowing you to choose the correct panel for your project confidently.

2. Skipping Proper Surface Preparation

Putting ACP panels on a surface that hasn’t been cleaned, leveled or prepared properly will definitely lead to problems. If the adhesion is not good, then in a few months time the panels may start bubbling, moving or even completely coming off. Before starting the installation process, it’s important for the base to be dry and clear of dust as well as any old coatings. Hurrying this step to save time usually leads to expensive redo work that takes much more time than the initial preparation would have.

3. Using Incompatible Sealants and Fixings

The sealant and fixing method you select should be suitable with the ACP panel material. If generic or inferior quality sealants are used, it can cause cracks in joints and allow moisture to enter behind the panels. With time, this will result in rusting, mold growth and structural harm which is costly as well as taking a lot of effort to repair. Make sure to always acquire sealants and fastenings that are specially suggested or tried for use with the panels you have chosen.

4. Ignoring Expansion and Contraction Gaps

ACP panels change size with temperature shifts, they expand and contract. If those who install them do not consider these movement gaps while fitting, the panels will bend out of shape, joints will break apart and within a season the whole facade can look irregular. This is one of the most frequently missed technical details at sites. Spacing guidelines properly followed are not a choice, they are necessary to ensure the installation looks good and works well for many years.

5. Hiring Inexperienced Installers to Cut Costs

The quality of installation is equally significant as the quality of panels. Choosing an unskilled crew to cut costs usually results in misaligned panels, bad joinery, wrong drilling and a final look that does not match the plan at all. Even worse, if installed incorrectly it could completely nullify any product warranty. Putting money into a proficient and seasoned team for setup is not an additional cost. It acts as a safeguard for all other investments you have made in the project.

Bottom Line

When ACP cladding is done correctly, it becomes one of the wisest investments for any building exterior. If not done properly, it can become an expensive and annoying issue. With CityBond, you receive panels designed for high performance and a team that assists in avoiding these problems from the beginning. Be smart in your choice, install properly and allow your building to represent itself.
